Orlando Alexander, better known as "Lanne", is one of the most sought after Director/Choreographers currently working in Los Angeles musical theater circles.
At a young age, Orlando was fortunate enough to see a live production, as well as the movie, of West Side Story. He was instantly hooked on dancing and musicals. He began choreographing at the age of 7 by assembling the neighborhood kids, teaching them dance numbers and putting them in a full scale production that he would produce. He was then encouraged to choreograph a dance for a school talent show and won 1st place. Orlando was hooked.
As an adult, Orlando trained at the Los Angeles Dance Academy and Broadway Dance Centre in New York. His training and dance style enhanced his talents to the point he began getting job offers that took him all over the world, like Japan, Mexico, Canada and Russia. He became an accomplished performer appearing as "Richie" in A Chorus Line, "Marty" in Dreamgirls as a featured dancer with Michael Jackson and the world famous Radio City Rockettes. He was also cast in the National tour of West Side Story, an experience he considered to this day as one of the biggest thrills of his life. He has danced on stage with such notables as Carol Channing, Angela Lansbury, Christian Borle and Wayne Brady, to name a few. Although Orlando has loved performing for many years, he never lost his love for creating for the stage, so he returned to the production end of musical theater. As a Director/choreographer, Orlando has brought his choreographic and directorial vision to countless numbers of productions throughout Southern California. His work has garnered him 4 Inland Theatre Awards, 8 Stage Scene L A awards, 2 Garland Award Nominations and 2 Broadway World nominations.
Married for 17 years to the love of his life. Orlando feels blessed to work in an industry that allows him to express his love and passion for the world of dance.
